The Museum of Northern Arizona and A:shiwi A:wan Museum and Heritage Center are collaborating to bring back an annual Zuni event previously called the Zuni Marketplace that was last held in 2003. The plan is to have the event in 2008 and rename it as the 18th Annual Zuni Festival of Arts and Culture. In past years the event was very popular with Zuni artists and those interested in learning about Zuni. As part of the planning to develop and promote the event, a series of presentations will be held at MNA during 2007 and 2008 to share Zuni's connections to the Colorado Plateau and perspectives on regional art and history.
Our people have close cultural ties to the landscapes and ancestral villages on the Colorado plateau and the Museum of Northern Arizona respects this relationship. The MNA and the AAMHC are working towards creating a progressive and proactive museum-to-museum relationship based on regular dialogue to advances both institution's regional and local interests.
